The processions are living testimonies of the culture of the Sevillian people and are the maximum expression of their devotion. They are characterised by the Pasos* with their Nazarene figures, the drums marking the passage of the costaleros who carry the Pasos, the cloaks, the beauty and perfumes of incense and candles, the singing from the street and the balconies, the accompanying music, the solemnity, the seriousness and the respect for what is taking place.

The view from a select balcony allows you to appreciate the magnitude of a procession where you will see as many as 2000 or 3000 Nazarenes. It is especially beautiful when night comes and the candles of the penitents illuminate the darkness, accompanied by the most absolute silence.

*Los Pasos are ornate platforms that carry religious images, authentic works of art considered artistic heritage, and that narrate the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Each platform is a mobile museum that offers the viewer on the balcony the opportunity to appreciate works of art created by some of the most prominent Spanish artists of the last centuries.

During Holy Week in Seville (8 days) a total of 60 Brotherhoods go out in procession through the streets of Seville; Each procession basically follows the same model but each Brotherhood has its own identity, which is evident in different ways: from the colors they use, to the hoods and banners that represent them; and the works of art that reflect the individual way each Brotherhood approaches and passes their path of penance. Likewise, each Brotherhood has a different starting route (each one leaves their own church) but then they all join a route called the official route along which the 60 processions will parade.

RENT BALCONIES

Our select balconies are exclusived and located in front of the Giralda Tower and Cathedral, on Sierpes Street and in the Plaza de San Francisco. Some apartments offer the possibility of having drinks, soft drinks, snacks and some balcony rentals include the use of other areas of the apartment. The options are varied and depend on the number of processions, the specific days chosen and the rest of the services you choose.

The position on the balconies is guaranteed but not assigned, although in the various apartments the number of people will be limited such that it guarantees everyone at the same time the same quality of viewing: not indicating the names on the positions ensures greater freedom of movement. From experience, no one is on the balcony all of the time, and socializing with other guests inside the apartment will almost certainly enrich the experience. In general, balconies in Spain are not large enough to accommodate chairs. You will enjoy the view from a standing position or leaning on the railing, and there are always several seats inside the apartment. Likewise, a bathroom is always available.

Access to the buildings with the balconies is always possible even if they are on streets generally closed to the public. In some cases, "permits" will be required to access the building where the reserved balconies are located. It is important to keep in mind that it is not permitted to watch the processions at the side of the street. If there are any chairs along the street they are usually private property.

SEE LOS PASOS ON THE STREET WITH SEVILLIANS

Attending the processions from the street is free and fascinating but, in most cases, it is very frustrating due to the impossibility of moving forward through the crowds of people (bulla). One thing to keep in mind is that each day the processions last between seven and eight hours. For those who do not know the city and are not familiar with the routes and details of the processions (they can even change the route at the last minute) and, due to the immense crowds around each platform, it is incredibly difficult to go without a specialized guide to advise you and explain every detail to you. You risk losing the most beautiful moments of these incredible processions.
